CHAPTER 47~

“KANAKKK”

Surendra regain consciousness and was searching for kanak.

Bhavesh and all his men started gaining consciousness.

“Where the hell is kanak?”, bhavesh shouted at Surendra.

Surendra grabbed bhavesh 's collar and punched his face very hard.

“Don't you dare to shout at me, and I know that it's all your plan to kidnap kanak” Surendra said.

“I don't know where she is, you are the one who had kidnapped her”, bhavesh blamed him.

Surendra looked at his men and said,“Check every room and corner of the house , I want kanak”.

His men moved Around the house finding kanak.

“Where is she?!” Surendra demanded again, grabbing Bhavesh by the collar.

Bhavesh shoved him back. “I don’t know!”

“Sir! We can’t find ma’am!”

Surendra’s breathing became heavier instantly.

He grabbed Bhavesh again violently.

“If this is your doing—”

“It’s not!” Bhavesh shouted back, coughing badly.

Surendra’s jaw tightened dangerously.

He looked back at Bhavesh for a long second, rage visible in his eyes.

Then suddenly, he let him go.

Bhavesh stumbled backward in shock.

“You’re alive only because I think you know something,” Surendra said coldly.

Without another word, he stormed outside.

...

Outside the wedding venue, police sirens had already begun echoing nearby.

Yash, Naman, Garv, Sapna, Prachi, and Tej rushed toward Surendra the moment they saw him.

“Where’s Kanak?” Sapna asked immediately, panic clear in her voice.

Surendra’s silence answered before words did.

Prachi’s face lost color. “No… no, don’t tell me—”

“She’s missing,” Surendra said sharply.

Everyone froze.

Tej immediately stepped forward. “What do you mean missing?”

“She disappeared , we don't know where she went and who took her” Surendra added angrily.

Naman pulled out his laptop instantly. “There must be CCTV footage.”

“Hack into everything,” Surendra ordered immediately. “Road cameras, wedding hall footage, nearby buildings—everything.”

Naman sat inside the vehicle quickly and started working rapidly.

For a few tense minutes, no one spoke.

Then suddenly, Naman’s expression changed.

“Something’s wrong.”

Surendra looked at him sharply. “What?”

“The footage…” Naman frowned harder while typing faster. “It’s gone.”

“What?”

“All recordings from that exact time period are deleted.”

Yash cursed under his breath.

“That’s impossible,” prachi said.

Naman shook his head seriously. “No. Someone hacked the system before us.”

Someone else had already been watching.

And they knew Surendra’s team would check the footage.

Surendra’s eyes darkened instantly.

“This wasn’t random.”

His voice became dangerously calm.

“This was planned.”

He immediately turned toward his team and the arriving police officers.

“I don’t care what it takes,” he ordered coldly. “Find her.”

Everyone straightened immediately.

“Check highways, tolls, abandoned properties, private routes—everything. Block exits if needed.”

“Yes sir!”

Because for the first time in a long time—

He was truly afraid.

Afraid he had lost Kanak before he could even fix what broke between them.

He turned toward Naman, Yash, Garv, Sapna, Prachi, and Tej.

“We’re not waiting here.”

“Where are we starting?” Yash asked immediately.

Surendra looked toward the dark road ahead.

“Every place connected to Bhavesh.”

His eyes hardened dangerously.

“And if someone took her…” he said quietly, “they better pray I don’t find them first.”

Everyone moved with their cars, garv and sapna, prachi and Naman, yash and tej respectively.

Surendra drives rashly finding her like a madman.

Two days passed.

And kanak was still nowhere to be found.

It was as if she had disappeared completely.

The city had become a nonstop search zone under Surendra’s orders. Police teams, private investigators, surveillance units—everyone was working continuously.

But every lead ended the same way.

Surendra himself hadn’t stopped for even a moment.

He searched abandoned warehouses, questioned Bhavesh’s contacts personally, checked highways, hospitals, hotels, private properties—anything remotely connected to the case.

He barely slept.

Barely ate.

The stubble on his face had grown rough, his eyes red from exhaustion, but none of it mattered to him anymore.

Only Kanak did.

At the police headquarters, officers watched him with visible concern as he stood over a table filled with maps and reports.

“Sir,” one officer said carefully, “you need rest.”

Surendra didn’t even look up.

“Then find her faster.”

“We are trying—”

“Trying isn’t enough!” he snapped suddenly, slamming a file shut.

The room fell silent instantly.

The officer took a careful breath. “We understand your condition, but staying awake for two days straight won’t help either.”

Surendra’s jaw tightened.

“Go home for a few hours,” another officer added gently. “We’ll inform you the second we get anything.”

“No.”

The answer came immediately.

“I’m not leaving until she’s found.”

The officers exchanged helpless looks.

Late that night, Surendra stood near his car outside another investigation site while Naman checked digital reports on his laptop nearby.

Garv and Yash watched Surendra silently for a moment.

He looked terrible.

Not physically dangerous—

Broken.

Like someone functioning only because stopping would destroy him completely.

“Surendra,” Garv finally said carefully, “go home for a few hours.”

“No.”

Yash sighed heavily. “You haven’t slept.”

“I said no.”

Naman closed the laptop slowly. “Your mother hasn’t eaten anything properly since Kanak disappeared.”

That made Surendra pause slightly for the first time.

Yash stepped closer. “Aunty keeps waiting near the door every night thinking either you or Kanak will walk in.”

Surendra looked away immediately.

Garv’s voice softened. “At least go see her once.”

“I don’t have time for this,” Surendra muttered harshly, though his voice lacked strength now.

Then Naman stepped directly in front of him.

“Fine,” he said quietly. “Then we swear on your mother.”

Surendra froze.

The silence after that felt heavy.

“You’ll go home,” Naman continued firmly, “eat something, meet Aunty, and come back if you want.”

For the first time in two days, Surendra looked genuinely affected.

Because no matter how broken he was—

His mother was still his weakness.

He closed his eyes briefly, exhausted frustration visible across his face.

Then finally—

“Two hours,” he said quietly.

Garv immediately nodded. “That’s enough.”

“We’ll keep checking everything meanwhile.”

They all left him and got back to their work

Surendra didn’t respond.

He just leaned briefly against the car, looking more tired than angry now. He looked at sky , the shining moon and sat on the road begging to God.

“Kyuu? Bhagwan Kyu vo mujhe chod kar chali gai, bhagwan kyuu, usse ek baar le aao bas ek baar usse dekh lu, meri jaan nikale jaa rhi hai bhagwan please varna mein maar jaunga uske bina”.

One drop of tear fell from his eyes.

He stood up and sat back in his car.

.....

He stepped inside slowly, exhaustion weighing heavily on him. Everyone including sapna, prachi and tej were present.

For a moment, no one noticed he had entered.

Then Smita looked up from the sofa.

The second she saw him, tears immediately filled her eyes again.

“Surendra…”

Her voice broke completely.

Surendra froze.

His mother looked weak, tired, and emotionally shattered. Her hair was messy, her eyes swollen from continuous crying, and untouched food still sat on the table nearby.

The sight hit him harder than he expected.

Mukesh sat silently beside her, looking years older in just two days.

Devendra stood near the window with folded arms, his face tense with helpless anger.

The entire house looked broken.

Because of him.

Because Kanak was gone.

Smita stood up quickly and walked straight toward him.

“Did you find her?” she asked desperately.

The silence on Surendra’s face gave the answer before his words could.

Her eyes closed painfully.

“Oh God…”

She covered her mouth, trying to stop herself from crying harder.

Surendra looked away immediately, guilt tightening painfully inside him.

“I’m trying,” he said quietly. “I’m checking everywhere.”

Smita suddenly held his face tightly in her hands like she used to when he was younger.

“You haven’t slept,” she whispered shakily. “Look at yourself.”

Mukesh finally spoke softly from behind.

“This house…” he paused briefly, looking around at the silent walls, “doesn’t feel like home anymore.”

Smita's tears were continuously flowing from her eyes, shattering surendra.

“Maa please stop crying, I'm here ”, surendra said softly wiping her tears.

“Beta but kanak—

“There is nothing more than you maa, and no one will take her name in this house, and I have stop finding her ”, Surendra said coldly.

“What do you mean by stopped finding her?”, garv came near him.

“Yes, she left me again and now I'm leaving her forever ”, Surendra said.

“What are you saying Surendra?”, sapna asked loudly.

“Haa sahi to keh raha hu, vo hamesha mujhe chod kar chali jati hai, pehle bhi chali gai thi or Aaj bhi”.

His voice holds the emotions of betrayal, pain and separation from his breath.

“You are angry right now , you should rest ”, Mukesh said.

“No dad, I know she is very dear to you but you favourite daughter as betrayed your son, and I hate her for this”, Surendra eyes were filled with anger.

“It's my final decision, if she ever entered this house the moment I will left this home forever, her name will be erased from my memories, and no one NO ONE WILL TAKE HER NAME, OR TRY TO FIND ABOUT HER ”, Surendra added and ordered his family.

His anger and his decision was for sure his tone said it all, no one dares to stop him and say anything further.

The next morning, the house felt unusually quiet again.

Smita was seated on table zone out while Mukesh sat silently at the dining table reading the newspaper without actually turning a page.

No one had slept properly.

They were all waiting for the same thing—

News about Kanak.

Surendra walked down calmly, fully dressed for office, his expression composed as if nothing had happened.

“Good morning,” he said normally.

The family exchanged stunned glances.

He pulled out a chair and sat down at the table casually.

“What happened?” he asked lightly when no one responded. “Why is everyone looking at me like this?”

Smita’s eyes immediately filled.

Because the calmness felt wrong.

Too wrong.

Surendra picked up his tea and started checking office files as if it were any ordinary morning.

“I’ll be late today,” he said casually. “There’s a meeting in the evening too.”

Mukesh stared at him carefully.

“Surendra…”

“Yes?”

“How are you sitting here like this?”

For a second, Surendra paused.

Then he gave a faint smile.

“What should I do instead?”

The answer carried something broken beneath it.

Sumita quietly sat beside him. “You don’t have to pretend in front of us.”

“I’m not pretending,” he replied calmly.

But everyone could see it.

The way his hands tightened slightly around the cup.

The way he avoided looking toward Kanak’s empty place at the table.

The kind that comes after crying too much inside your own mind.

Still, Surendra stood up after breakfast as if everything was fine.

“I’ll handle things,” he said before leaving.

But when he walked out of the house, his family only looked more heartbroken.

Late that night, Surendra sat silently in the backseat of the car while returning from office.

The city lights passed quietly outside the window while he stared blankly ahead.

Even work wasn’t helping anymore.

Every silence reminded him of Kanak.

Every pause brought her back.

He took his iPad and started scrolling through news, which states UNKNOWN COMPANY'S collaboration with some wafers company .

After a while, the driver spoke hesitantly.

“Sir…”

Surendra looked up slightly. “Hmm?”

“If you don’t mind… can we stop near the mosque for two minutes?”

Surendra frowned lightly. “Why?”

The driver looked emotional suddenly. “My mother was very ill recently. I had prayed there… made a mannat that if she recovered, I’d come tie the dhaga.”

Surendra stayed silent for a moment.

Then quietly nodded. “Go.”

The car stopped outside the mosque shortly afterward.

Driver came near Surendra and asked,“Sir, if you too pray for kanak ma'am —

But Surendra glared at him , and quietly Walked away.

After few moments, he opened the car gate and walked out.

He stepped inside the mosque, the atmosphere filled calm, peaceful to his hectic mind.

The driver tied his mannat thread near the sacred area respectfully before stepping aside.

Surendra stood there for a long moment looking at the threads already tied by hundreds of people carrying hundreds of prayers.

He went inside and sat on his knees praying for her.

(Guys I don't know what happens in mosque, or how people pray so if I write something wrong or Anything so please sorry for that, I didn't mean to harm any religion belief).

“MERI JAAN LAUTA TO , MEIN AAPKE AAGE BHEEK MANGTA HU”.

A single tear drop from his eyes.

A man from the mosque came and tapped his shoulder, Surendra looked up.

He smiled at her and said,“ Dil se maang rahe ho khuda se, vo tumhari khawahish zarur puri karega”.

Surendra stood up from his place and took a dhaga.

He walked near the sacred area and tie the mannat dhaga.

After 5-7 days...

Surendra was returning from office late at night , he was driving rashly on road which was narrow and wet from the rain and near forest area .

As he was driving —

Suddenly, a figure came in front of his car.

His eyes widened slightly.

“Shitt”.

He slammed the brakes hard.

The tires screeched violently against the wet road while the car stopped barely inches away from her.

Surendra’s breathing turned heavy from the shock.

Anger immediately followed.

He pushed the car door open and stepped out furiously.

“Are you insane?!” he shouted. “Do you want to die standing in the middle of the road—”

The words stopped halfway.

Because the woman slowly looked up.

And the world around him froze.

Kanak.

Surendra’s face lost all color instantly.

For one terrifying second, he genuinely thought he was imagining her.

“Kanak”, he whispered.

His eyes softened as they met with her eyes.

She was standing in a simple clothes , no wedding attire.

"Kaha chali gai thi, or tum thik to hona, Kuch hua to nhi tumhe”, Surendra showered All the questions at her.

Kanak looked at him with eyes of love and care.

“I'm sorry”, kanak whispered slowly, enough audible for Surendra.

“Sorry for what jaana?, you did what you always do ” Surendra said sarcastically.

Kanak frowned at his words and change in his tone.

“Surendra—

Kanak Started coming near him.

“JUST LEAVE ME like you also do, you used me as a toy whenever you wanted me you came into my life but not now”, Surendra shouted .

Kanak 's heart shattered at his words but she knows that she is wrong this time.

“Surendra I know whatever I did is wrong, but atleast listen to me let me explain myself ”, kanak said softly with guilt.

“No way Kanak Sharma, I won't let you come into my life this time, I Hate You ”.

Surendra's words were burning Kanak's heart.

The tension was exploding between them.

“It's not like this , I want to tell you everything truthfully about me and my life”, kanak said trembling.

Surendra laughing bitterly at kanak,“Unbelievable kanak, do you really think I care about you and your life, I DON'T LIKE A DAMN ABOUT YOU”.

Both of them stood facing each other in the middle of the empty road, emotions spiraling completely out of control now.

“No Surendra it's not like this , I know sorry is just a word, it can't heal your wounds I'm ready for your punishment but please Surendra let me explain myself, ask me questions like you also used to do to know me, please Hum sab thik kar denge saath milkar ”.

Kanak said her voice cracked completely.

“Okay fine then, your punishment is to leave me completely ”, Surendra said with a smirk.

Kanak looked at him in disbelief.

“Surendra please talk to me”, kanak begged.

Surendra didn't listen to her and sat in his car.

Kanak stood there like a corpse.

His engine roared , and he drove his car.

Kanak stood outside in the rain, watching him helplessly.

Inside the car, Surendra gripped the steering wheel tightly, trying to steady his breathing.

His phone suddenly started ringing.

Ma Calling.

He stared at the screen for a second but didn’t pick up.

He couldn’t.

Not now.

The call kept ringing.

Frustrated, he tossed the phone onto the passenger seat.

But as it landed, the screen lit up again—

And his wallpaper appeared.

Kanak.

A candid picture of her smiling softly during the bhajan night.

For a second, Surendra’s expression broke completely.

His attention remained fixed on the screen just a little too long, and he took the phone in his hand.

And in that exact moment—

A loud horn exploded through the road.

A massive truck came speeding from the side road directly toward the car.

Too fast.

Way too fast.

Surendra looked up sharply—

But it was already there.

The truck crashed violently into the side of the car with a deafening impact.

Metal twisted brutally.

Glass shattered across the road.

The force spun the car violently before slamming it against the tree.

The sudden voice turned kanak and her eyes widened.

She shouted,“SURENDRA”.

She ran towards him, her hands trembling.

Surendra's half body lay out of the opened door, bleeding miserably and motionless.

Kanak panicked at his condition.

“Surendra please open your eyes, please talk to me”, kanak said with trembling voice padding his face.

She gathered her strength and took him out of the car, he laid lifeless in her lap.

“ Surendraaaa, please talk to me”, kanak said loudly.

Surendra was barely opening his eyes, but with low and painful voice He said to kanak.

“Tumne aane mein bahut der kardi”.

And he closed his eyes.

Her heartbeat crashed painfully.

“No way Surendra Rathod, you can't leave me like this, we have to fight with each other , talk about every day passed ” kanak was continuously tapping his face to wake him up.

She started looking for phone. And saw Surendra's phone, his grip tight Around the phone.

Kanak struggled to took his phone from his hands but finally took it and then saw her photo flashing on his phone.

Her photo as his wallpaper broke her heart. She dialled a call for ambulance.

Surendra was laid on the stretcher, nurses moving it, kanak ran beside it trembling badly.

“Doctor, please save him, he for into an accident ”, kanak pleaded.

“You need to file a complaint against the accident ”, doctor said.

His words made kanak angry , she shouted,“A person's life is more important than your fucking complaint ”.

“Don't worry we will handle him, you fill all the details ”, doctor said and took him inside the OT.

Kanak’s hands shook uncontrollably seeing him unconscious.

“Sir, please wait outside,” one of the doctors said firmly as they pushed the stretcher toward the emergency room.

“No… please…” Kanak whispered weakly. “He was talking just now… he—”

“Ma’am, let us do our work.”

The emergency room doors shut in front of her.

And suddenly, silence hit.

Kanak stood frozen outside the operation room, her breathing uneven.

Her hands and clothes stained by his blood.

Surendra's phone was continuously ringing. First Smita was calling and now madhvesh.

Again it rang.

Kanak looked at the phone for a brief second and attend the call.

“Hello! Surendra kaha hai tu?”, madhvesh voice came.

“Hello!”, kanak said softly.

“Kanak...., tum or Surendra saath mein ho, or itne din kaha chali gai thi tum, Surendra kaha hai usse baat karvao meri phone uthane ki samjh nhi hai usme”, madhvesh said with a different happiness in his voice after hearing kanak.

“Bhaiya.... Surendra is not here”, kanak said worriedly.

“Means, what happened kanak your voice is tensed”, madhvesh asked .

“He... Surendra ka accident ho gaya hai, a truck hit him”, kanak said her breath uneven.

“What?!”, madhvesh asked shockingly.

“Kanak don't worry just tell me which hospital he is in, I'm coming and don't leave him, and you stay strong bacha”, madhvesh bhaiya said and hanf the call.

Kanak messages him about the location of the hospital.

“What happened madhvesh?, I heard you said kanak, was she on the call with Surendra?”, Smita questioned him.

“Yes, kanak was on call but—

He paused.

“What but ?”, Devendra asked.

Soon everyone gathered in the hall.

“Surendra met with an accident, kanak took him to hospital ”, madhvesh said panicking.

“What?”, the whole family trembling with this news.

Smita's and dadi tears were not stopping. They all left for the hospital.

In hospital —

One of the Doctor came out ,“Dr. How is he?, it's already half an hour please tell me ”, kanak requested.

“His condition is serious, internal bleeding is not stopping, we are trying our best”, doctor left from there saying this.

All this conversation was overheard by Rathod family and all their friends.

“Kanak, kya hua Surendra ko?”, Smita ran towards her.

Everyone asked her the same question again and again.

After a brief pause, she took a deep breath.

“Surendra was coming from office when I stopped him on the road to talk to him but he didn't listen to me and sai inside the car and as he drove the car a truck hit him”, kanak replied.

Garv immediately looked serious. “Truck driver?”

“It didn’t stop,” Kanak whispered weakly.

The other doctor came out to call the previous doctor , madhvesh came near him and said,“I want the best surgeons here immediately,” he ordered firmly. “Call whoever you need.”

“Sir, the doctors are already—”

“I said the best,” Madhvesh interrupted sharply. “Money is not the issue. If specialists are needed, bring them now.”

The staff immediately nodded nervously.

Everyone could feel the pressure and power in his voice.

Meanwhile, Smita sat crying continuously while Prachi and Sapna tried comforting her.

“He was already not sleeping… not eating…” Smita whispered brokenly. “And now this…”

Mukesh stood silently for a few moments staring at the operation room doors.

Then slowly, he turned toward Kanak.

“Where were you?”, he asked calmly.

Kanak looked at him helplessly.

“Bade papa, I don't think this is the right time for this question ”, naitik said.

Mukesh looked at kanak and padded her forehead assuring her that everything will be okay.

1 hour passed.

Everyone was walking back and forth continuously looking at the OT, doctors and nurses moving out and inside the room in hurry.

Smita slowly wiped her tears and looked toward Kanak too.

For a few moments, neither of them spoke.

Then quietly, Smita stood up and walked toward her.

Kanak immediately lowered her gaze.

“Aunty…” she whispered weakly.

But before she could say anything else, Smita gently held her face.

That simple touch shattered Kanak instantly.

“I’m sorry…” Kanak said painfully.“Everything is happening because of me…”

Smita immediately pulled her into a tight hug.

“No,” she said firmly despite her own tears. “Don’t say that.”

Kanak held onto her desperately, almost like she would collapse otherwise. Even today kanak's eyes were dry not a single tear came out.

“I never wanted this…” she whispered. “I never wanted him to get hurt…”

Smita closed her eyes tightly while holding her.

Kanak stood near the OT not ready to leave the door even for a second.

She was desparately looking at the room for some news.

Then suddenly, movment near the entrance caught everyone's attention.

Several security personnel enter first. Behind them walked group of foreign doctors , speaking to each other in Russian accented English.

At center of them walked an elder man whose presence commands authority.

The hospital staff straightening immediately.

One of the doctor whispered in shock,“Dr. Alexander Volkov...”.

Madhvesh frowned immediately. “But I never contacted him.”

Before anyone could understand further, Dr. Volkov removed his gloves calmly while observing the ICU reports handed to him.

The masked man standing slightly behind him remained silent the entire time.

Kanak slowly stepped forward.

Her exhausted eyes immediately filled with relief the moment she looked at the doctor.

Dr. Volkov turned toward her.

“Thank you so much dr. For coming in such a short notice”, kanak said softly.“Please save him...”, kanak pleased.

The doctor looked at her carefully for a moment.

Then, in calm but slightly accented English, he replied, “We came as soon as we received information.”

Mukesh and the others exchanged confused looks instantly.

Kanak lowered her eyes briefly, guilt and fear visible all over her face.

“He lost a lot of blood,” she whispered weakly. “And there was head injury too…”

Dr. Volkov nodded once after quickly checking the reports.

Russian Doctors team collaborate with the present team and moved instantly.

As they moved inside, tension rose again.

2 hours had passed in OT, but still no news has come about his Health, just nurses and doctors moving out and in quickly.

Outside the room, the family waited in complete silence.

Smita clutched her dupatta tightly in trembling hands while Mukesh stood frozen near the wall, unable to sit anymore.

Kanak’s eyes remained fixed on the ICU doors, her breathing uneven with fear.

Then suddenly—

One sharp alarm echoed loudly from inside the room.

Everyone immediately looked up.

Doctors’ voices became hurried.

“Pulse dropping!”

“BP crashing!”

The sound of rushed movement filled the ICU.

Kanak’s heart dropped instantly.

“No…” she whispered weakly.

Through the small glass panel, they could see doctors gathering quickly around Surendra’s bed.

One of the nurses rushed outside urgently while another doctor shouted instructions from inside.

Then finally—

A doctor stepped out briefly, his face tense.

“The patient’s pulse has stopped”.

“HE IS DEAD”.

The words shattered everything.

Smita gasped loudly, almost collapsing immediately.

Mukesh grabbed the wall beside him for support.

“No…” Yash whispered in disbelief.

Prachi started crying instantly while Sapna covered her mouth in shock.

Kanak froze completely.

Her ears rang painfully.

It felt as if the world around her had stopped moving.

Kanak without wasting a second ran towards the temple in hospital.

Inside the ICU, doctors immediately brought in emergency resuscitation equipment.

“Charge!”

A machine was prepared quickly.

The electrical pads were pressed against Surendra’s chest.

The shock jolted his body upward slightly.

Nothing.

Again.

“Charge!”

Another shock.

Still nothing.

The long flat sound from the monitor continued mercilessly.

Outside, Smita cried uncontrollably while Madhvesh argued desperately with the doctors through the glass.

“Do something!”

Kanak fell on her knees begging to God.

“Please Bhagwan aapne sabko mujhse chin liya, aab yeh nhi, please bhagwan mere Surendra ko bacha lijiye ”.

Her eyes became moist.

“Mujhe aap per pura bharosa hai aap Surendra ko kuch nhi hone denge”, kanak said.

You can punish me… hate me… do anything…” she sobbed desperately, “but please save him…”

Her voice echoed weakly through the tiny temple.

“I can’t lose him…”

Back in the ICU, the doctors continued trying desperately to revive Surendra.

Again shock.

Once.

Twice.

Thrice.

And a beep sound —

The flat line slowly transformed into a heartbeat pattern again.

One of the doctors exhaled loudly in relief. “Pulse restored!”

The tension inside the room shifted instantly.

“BP stabilizing!”

“Oxygen levels improving!”

After half an hour, doctor finally came out.

Mukesh noticed first.

“What happened?”

Then finally, one nurse rushed out smiling in relief.

“His heartbeat is back.”

Everyone froze for a second before the meaning fully hit them.

Smita broke down crying again—this time from relief.

“Thank God…”

Mukesh closed his eyes tightly, emotion overwhelming him completely.

Yash let out a breath he had been holding for minutes while Garv sat down heavily on the nearby chair.

“Surgery is successful, he is out of danger”, Dr. Volkov said.

“Can I meet him?”, Smita asked desparately.

“We are shifting him in room, after that you can meet him”,Dr said and left .

Prachi heard the news and ran towards kanak.

“Kanak!”

Kanak stood up immediately in panic. “What happened?!”

“He’s alive,” Prachi cried emotionally. “His heartbeat came back!”

Kanak’s knees nearly gave way from relief.

She folded her hands toward the idol again silently.

“Thank you…”

After hours of surgery....

“The patient will regain consciousness after some time,” he informed them calmly. “You can meet him one by one, but only for a short time. He still needs rest, and he will be under observation , tomorrow you can take discharge ”.

Everyone immediately stood up.

Smita’s eyes filled instantly. “Can we see him now?”

The doctor nodded once.

Before anyone moved, Smita turned toward Kanak.

“You go first.”

Kanak immediately looked up in shock. “No…”

“You should go first aunty, he need you”, kanak replied.

Soon one by one everyone met him, but he didn't regain consciousness.

Tej , prachi and Sapna came near kanak after meeting Surendra and said,“You should go and meet him”.

“I can't ”, she said slowly.

“But why kanak, he need you”, tej said.

“I will meet him but right now I can't ”, kanak said.

Smita and Mukesh along with everyone come outside.

Madhvesh asked all of them to go home as it was already morning.

They all insisted to stop but madhvesh didn't let them, but kanak decided to stop with him.

Madhvesh didn't said anything, along with her garv , yash and Naman stayed.

As everyone left kanak gathered strength to meet him.

She opened the door and moved inside.

The silence in the room gripped her, only beep sound erupted.

Her heart wants to meet him, hold him tightly but her mind stops her with one question “All this happened because of me?”.

Kanak’s breathing trembled instantly.

For a second, she simply stood there staring at him.

This strong, stubborn man who never let anyone see him weak…

Now looked so fragile.

And somehow, that broke her more than anything else.

Slowly, she walked closer to the bed and sat on the nearby stool.

For a few seconds, she just looked at him silently before finally gathering the courage to hold his hand gently.

Kanak lowered her head slightly, holding his hand with both of hers now.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered brokenly. “For everything.”

The machines continued their steady rhythm in the background.

“You kept trying to protect me…” she continued softly , “and all I did was hurt you.”

Her thumb moved gently over his hand unconsciously.

“When you signed those papers…” her voice cracked painfully, “I thought I was doing the right thing.”

She looked at his unconscious face helplessly.

“But the moment I thought I lost you tonight…I understood how badly I was lying to myself.”

“The only one whom I want is you, I just want to be with you, I want to give you everything whether it's care, respect,lov...love”, kanak leaned closer to him.

She stayed whole time like this near him.

Around 12 in afternoon, Surendra's whole family came with some food for him and for others.

“Kanak beta go home and rest for some time”, dadaji said.

“Dadaji I want to stay here please ”, she said even though she was tired and exhausted.

Sapna came inside the room and said,“We know that you will not go home that's why we brought your clothes so you can change and freshen up”.

Sapna hand her over the clothes.
